This is a lecture-and-discussion workshop about the culture and history behind incest denial and resistance in the West. The workshop will cover four key areas:

• The history of incest denial in the US from colonial times up to the present.
• Historical and contemporary incest survivors who have resisted and confronted with powerful and creative actions.
• The literature of incest… Dorothy Allison, Louisa May Alcott, Maya Angelou, Alice Walker, Edith Wharton, Emily Bronte, Djuna Barnes, Sylvia Plath, Anne Sexton, Anais Nin… and more…!
• The impact of incest on our sexuality.
